Introduction

Nuts is the term used for the hard shelled fruits that have not released their seeds on ripening. Although dried fruits are commonly labeled as nuts, only some of them biologically qualify as nuts. Nuts are typically combinations of seed and fruit. Examples of nuts are walnuts, almonds, pecan nuts, peanuts, cashew nuts, etc.

It is recommended to consume nuts in raw form rather than in roasted form as roasting leads to loss of healthy oils present in nuts. Heating also results in the release of chemicals that accelerate ageing process.
